Petite Fashion Challenge #6

It's time again for another Petite Fashion Challenge!

This times challenge is hosted by Jess from Stylepint. If you haven't checked out her blog (which if you're reading this and part of the petite community, you probably have!) head over and see how adorable she is.

The challenge:

“Dress Up Your Basics”

Jeans and a tee is a classic outfit starter. Depending on what you layer over this basic pairing, you can change style and feel of the entire look. This is your chance to show your personality and your creativity.

For this challenge, start off with a jeans and tee basic look (it can be any style or color) and dress it up to show off your personal style with accessories, jewelry, and whatever you’d like to add.
Here's my look!

Outfit Details:
Jeans: Express, 00 Short
White Shirt (ok not a t-shirt but you'll read why below): Old Target, XS
Cardigan: Target, XS
Belt: Ann Klein, XS
Shoes: Jones New York, 5

I wanted to keep this outfit true to the challenge but I thought it would be more realistic to show something I would actually wear...and since most of my life is spent at work, this is what you get! Hence the white button-up and not a white t-shirt, although that would have been an easy substitute. Subsequently, this is what I actually wore today as I am on a business trip and had a casual meeting scheduled earlier this afternoon. As a side note; sorry for the incredibly horrible pictures. I was A) without my tripod, B) in a huge hurry snapping these trying to hit the road and C) in my roommates room since she has the only floor length mirror in the house.

Can't wait to see what everyone else came up with!

Petite Fashion Challenge #5

Well dear readers it's time for another Petite Fashion Challenge. Challenge #5 comes to us from the lovely and stylish 'CynthiaC' from the petite blog Shorty Stories. If you've never read her blog, be sure to check it out!

Here is the challenge this time:
It's winter in the northern hemisphere, and many of us leave the house for work when it's still pretty dark out and come home after the sun sets. Our work wardrobe is typically no different - blacks, greys, navy blues and maybe dark browns. So the challenge this month is to brighten your work wardrobe. What you need to do:

Create a sophisticated work appropriate look that has no more than one dark piece (it can be a skirt, pants, a blazer, sweater etc...) excluding shoes, accessories and hosiery.
I am guilty as charged when it comes to filling my wardrobe with shades of black, grays and browns. It's not that I like having a dreary wardrobe, it's just so easy to mix and match!

Unlike most of you, I could probably get away with wearing something 'springy' since I live in Florida and it's pretty nice all year long and no one pays attention to what season it is, but in the spirit of dressing season appropriate like most of you lovely ladies have to do, I decided to go with something I'd wear if I were anywhere else.

I posted this inspiration photo a while back praising the fun combo of pink and leopard.

And then, an outfit was born:
Details:
Dress: Express, Size XS
Blazer: Antonio Melani, Size 0
Tights: Target, Size SM/MD
Shoes: Ninewest, Size 5
Purse: Aldo
Leopard Belt: ASOS, Size Small

What's that you say? There's not enough leopard? Yea, that's what I thought!

Leopard Clutch: ASOS

Leopard, it's time for your closeup.

Really wish I'd had some turquoise jewelry to layer on but alas...when it was all said and done with, I think this outfit is a little safe, but that's what happens when you realize, CRAP, Challenge #5 is today?!?! Who's with me???

Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Petite Fashion Challenge #4

Curls and Pearls is the host of the fourth Petite Fashion Challenge which seems to be growing quite popular among the petite community. I haven't been able to participate in the previous challenges but I've seen some great entries. I've so glad to be able to try my hand at this challenge!

Here's the official challenge from the adorable Curls and Pearls:

The challenge:
Create a holiday party look using festive colours and/or holiday pieces without looking like a greeting card. This could be your opportunity to dust off that reindeer sweater you might have collecting dust in the back of your closet and turn it into something chic...hmmm?
My 'going out' outfit of choice usually involves some sort of black (original I know) and since I'm all about working with what you got, I searched for a little holiday inspiration to use what I already had laying around and I stumbled upon this:

As a side note, I think I might need to find myself a black Christmas tree! I loved the gorgeous combo of gold and black. It lends such a luxe feel to this tree. And then, an outfit was born:
Top: Black sweater from Express, Size XS
Shorts: Black leatherette shorts from Forever21, Size S
Tights: House of Holland suspender tights from ASOS, one size
Shoes: Black pumps from Ann Taylor, Size 5
Jewelry: Black and gold bracelet and necklace from Banana Outlet, Spike rink from nOir
Nail Polish: Black polish by Mabelline, gold glitter top coat by Sephora's OPI

Happy Holidays!
